Guard against Burglary

How does a burglar know that the members of a house have gone out?

I have listed few things you should keep in mind while you are going out for a short while or a vacation.

1 .While going out for an evening, leave some lights on... It shows the house is occupied... Leaving just one room with lights doesn’t help... If you could also leave the radio or the television on, it would surely doubt the burglar...

2. If you are leaving for a vacation, have the mail or other deliveries like magazine, milk held or suspended for a while.

3. Get your phone disconnected so that on the spot telephone check to find out if you are at home, can’t be made. Never give information to anonymous people who say that they are calling from insurance companies, banks for a meeting or you won a lottery and when you will be able to collect the prize, give only if you are sure or you might be giving your “when-you-will-be-at-home” information to the wrong person.

4. Inform the neighbors when you are going out so that they can keep an eye on your property. In case, you got an emergency and you had to leave your kids alone, ask the neighbor to keep an eye and do instruct your kids not to answer the doors when strangers knock (As burglars are like shape shifters – may act as a carpenter, electrician, plumper).

5. Don’t leave the house keys under the door/welcome mat or flower pot as they are the common areas of search.

6. If the members of the house are returning at different times, don’t leave the keys (Refer 5), its better to make extra keys or give your house key to your neighbor.

7. Ask your servant to clean up your courtyard daily and pick up the flyers as untidy courtyard shows that the members are out.

8. Draw the drapes/curtains of the house, if the inside of the house is visible to the outsiders and do not place any of your valuable items near the window.

9. Ask your neighbor or servant to turn off the lighted entrance in the morning and turn it on during the evening, if the lights are left on in the morning and off at night, it shows there is no one in the house or you could set a timer that would turn on or off the lights (Use low voltage lights as you can save electricity).

10. If your area is free from shoe thieves, you could leave some of your cheap slippers outside, it shows the people are in the house.

11. Never leave a note on door explaining why you are not at home.

12. Never leave any tools or ladder outside the house as it would help the burglar to break in.

Start a neighborhood watch, get a security or install a burglary alarm if the burglary rate is high. The points above are some of the things you should keep in mind. If you got a tip, do share. Have a nice day!

Falling Meteor - Caught on Tape

The meteor was moving north over the Rocky Mountains from the U.S. Southwest to Canada on August 10,1972 and was filmed by a tourist at the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming with an 8-millimeter color movie camera.

This meteor was supposed to have ended its life in a Hiroshima-atomic bomb like blast, but it never hit the ground. It continued to fly 58km above the ground and grazed Earth's atmosphere for about 100 seconds, before skipping out and going back into its orbit around the sun.

Photos taken inside a plane, before it crashed.

A B737 had a mid air collision with a Embraer Legacy while cruising at 35,000 feet over South America . The Embraer Legacy, though seriously damaged, with the winglet ripped off, managed to make a landing at a nearby airstrip in the midst of the Amazon jungle. The crew and passengers of the Embraer Legacy had no idea what they had hit. The B737, however, crashed killing all crew and passengers on board.

The two photos attached above were apparently taken by one of the passengers in the B737, after the collision and before the aircraft crashed. The photos were retrieved from the camera's memory stick. You will never get to see photos like this. In the first photo there is a gaping hole in the fuselage through which you can see the tailplane and vertical fin of the aircraft. In the second photo one of the passengers is being sucked out of the gaping hole.

Unusual Animal Racing Event

The Hamura zoo in Tokyo conducted an unusual animal race to celebrate the start of the year of the Rat. Hundreds of people gathered to watch this unusual rat race, most of them were kids. The title of the race was “Speediest rodent in Japan”

The box had 12 lanes with hurdles, where selected group of 12 house rats competed. The race began once the zoo keeper raised the partition. The fun part was that the rats never stopped racing it turned around in front of the goal line and ran back to the starting point.

Tremendous weather change in the Middle East

It’s been snowing and raining heavily in uncommon areas... Middle East is known for its high temperature in summers and mild temperatures in the winters and rain.. its something that people crave of..

The people of Baghdad thought they have seen it all… What was unexpected is a snowfall… For the first time in memory, snow fell across Baghdad. It created a wonderful delight in the hearts of the people. A snowfall is something new to their place and they have only seen in movies. Snow is common in the mountainous Kurdish areas of northern Iraq, but residents of the capital and surrounding areas could remember just hail. And that, only very occasionally. They say it’s the first time in 100 years

Snowfall in Saudi Arabia... Unlike the snow flakes which quickly melted in Baghdad, the northern parts of Saudi are covered in snow. Some regions have been experiencing problems with water supplies as pipes have frozen, and livestock has died from the cold. They say it’s the coldest in 20yrs.

Heavy rain floods in UAE... Constant heavy rain has resulted in flood in many areas. Schools have closed.

Strong Chilling winds in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Any more weather surprises? lets wait and see ..

Picture of an astronaut walking in space.

Have you seen an astronaut walking in space? Well, its not something you see everyday down the street. Take a look at it. At about 100 meters from the cargo bay of the space shuttle Challenger, Bruce McCandless II was further out than anyone had ever been before.

Just in case you are still wondering what you are looking at.. The Blue color is our Earth and the white little spot is the astronaut.

Cheapest car on Earth made by Tata motors - The Nano

The $2,500 car or call it TATA Nano-Rs 1 Lac car is scheduled for introduction by the Indian company Tata, swims against the current, with a rear-mounted engine, a trunk that fits little more than a briefcase, and plastics and adhesives replacing metal and bolts in certain nooks. The handful of people who have seen the car describe a tiny, charming, four-door, five-seat hatchback shaped like a jellybean, tiny in the front and broad in the back, the better to reduce wind resistance and permit a cheaper engine. The model appearing for introductioon has no radio, no power steering, no power windows, no air conditioning, and one windshield wiper instead of two. The car lacks a tachometer and uses an analog rather than digital speedometer. The car is light weight and is made environmentally friendly.

Forehead lines - What do they tell us??

It is said that people with high, even forehead is said to have a good life and black shades or creases on forehead represents obstacles at work.

Now lets get on with our forehead line theory.

If you have...

--- 1(One)horizontal line on your forehead it means that you like to live alone and mostly are very educated people.

--- 2(Two)horizontal lines on your forehead
it means that you are a very lucky person.

--- 3(Three)horizontal lines on your forehead
means that one will be following his father's footsteps

--- 1(One)short vertical line one your forehead
means that you are a person with a strong willpower and once a decision is made you will see that it is fulfilled. They will also face tough times but will get through it.

--- 1(One)long vertical line one your forehead
means that you are a very lucky person and would have a good life.

--- 2(Two)vertical lines on your forehead
means you are a very honest person and will be liked by everyone in the society.

--- 3(Three)vertical lines on your forehead
means longevity.

--- Lots of criss-crosses, asterix on your forehead
means that you are unlucky and will have to face a lot of accidents and bad times in life.

*Author's Note* - To Believe or not to believe is upto you. My advice - Don't get tensed by wondering what the line(s) of your forehead say.

World's Highest Fountain

The highest fountain of the world is located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Jeddah Fountain, also known as King Fahd's Fountain is one of the most striking landmarks of the city of Jeddah. It measures a staggering 312 meters. It is powered by two 3.5MW multistage centrifugal pumps, which deliver 1,250 litres per second. The water leaves the 126 mm nozzles at 42 bar (609.16 PSI) and at the incredible speed of 375 km/h.

The Tree of Life

Tree of life is nothing new to the people of Bahrain. This tree is considered as a natural wonder. Its a 400-year old mesquite tree which stands alone in the desert about 1.2 miles (two kilometers) from the Jebel Dukhan. The source of water for this tree still remains a mystery, because it stands in a place completely free of water whatsoever .

For those of who doesn't know where Bahrain is.. Here is some information about the Kingdom of Bahrain . Bahrain is an island country in the Persian Gulf and is the smallest Arab state. Its so small that its hard to spot on maps. Bahrain has been inhabited since ancient times and has even been proposed as the site of the Biblical Garden of Eden (Garden of Eden is described in the Book of Genesis {Bible} as being the place where the first man, Adam, and the first woman, Eve, lived after they were created by God).

Centre of the Bible

Got few questions for you

What is the shortest chapter in the Bible?
Psalm 117

What is the longest chapter in the Bible?
Psalm 119

Which chapter is in the centre of the Bible?
Psalm 118

There are 594 chapters before Psalm 118 and 594 chapters after Psalm 118 and when you add up you get 1188

What is the centre verse of the Bible?
Psalm 118:8

Does this verse say something significant about god's perfect will for our lives?
The next time someone says they would like to find god's perfect will for their lives and that they want to be in the centre of his will, just send them to the centre of this word.

What does 118:8 say?
"It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man."

However there are many who say this is not true and Psalm 117 is the shortest Psalm. It has only two verses, and therefore no "center" verse. You can read their explanation by clicking this link

Mobile Tips..

*Author's Note*: Maybe you have already heard about this.. Don't know if this is of some use or not.. Why dont you try it out and let me know Don't know what sort of mobile model would do this trick..Be careful

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies. Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it: -

TIP No.1---

* The Emergency Number worldwide for **Mobile** is 112.* If you find yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. **Try it out.**

TIP No.2---

* Subject: Have you locked your keys in the car? Does you car have remote
keys?*

This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone:

If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone.

Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

TIP No.3---

Subject: Hidden Battery power

Imagine your cell battery is very low, you are expecting an important call and you don't have a charger. Nokia instrument comes with a reserve battery. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next time.

TIP No.4---

How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone:

* # 0 6 #

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. when your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless.

You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

Huge Asteroid Headed for Earth

SCIENTISTS have identified an asteroid that has a faint chance of ploughing into the Earth, leaving a two-kilometre-wide crater and wiping out life for 6000 square kilometres. The asteroid measures 130 metres across and is travelling at 70,000 km/h. It would cause huge devastation if it hit the planet.Called 2007 VK184, the space rock is 90 million kilometres from Earth and could hit in 2048. It has earned a rare hazard rating of "one" on the Torino scale, the international barometer of space object impact risk. But while asteroid experts last week warned of the tremendous damage such a collision would cause, they were hopeful the risk of impact would diminish as more was discovered about VK184's path."The chances are that the probability (of an impact) will come back down to close to zero," said astronomer Gordon Garradd, who has identified numerous asteroids and works at the Siding Springs telescope in Coonabarabran, 450 kilometres north-west of Sydney. He said VK184 had been observed for only 35 days and, given its distance from Earth and the long time until a possible impact, more readings were necessary to determine if a collision was a possibility.NASA's Near Earth Object Program website says VK184 is travelling at 19 kilometres a second. It has a 1-in-3030 chance of hitting the planet in 2048.The object's Torino scale rating of one (out of a possible 10) signifies it has a tiny chance of collision with Earth and that there is no cause for public concern. Every other known object that will approach Earth this century has a zero rating. If the object struck Earth it would be up to three times worse than the asteroid that hit Russia in 1908.

World's Oldest Orangutan Dies at Age 55

A 55-year-old Sumatran orangutan, believed to be the world's oldest, has died, a Miami zoo spokesman said.

Nonja, who was born on the Indonesian island of Sumatra and lived in Miami since 1983, was found dead Saturday morning, said Ron Magill, spokesman for the Miami Metro Zoo.

"Everybody's very sad, especially with an animal like an orangutan," Magill said. "You see a lot of yourself in these animals. The great apes are our closest relatives."

A necropsy is to be performed in the next few days. A typical life span for Sumatran orangutans is 40 to 50 years, Magill said.

Nonja had slowed down in recent years because of her age, Mcgill said. "She was really a grand old dame," Magill said.
